Introduction: 

Pharmacists in outpatient specialty, inpatient settings as well as retail pharmacies must stay informed about advanced treatments in lung cancer to provide optimal patient care. With the increased emergence of resistance offered by several mutations of tumor cells and influx of many modern targeted treatments and immunotherapies for lung cancer, it is crucial for these professionals to continuously educate themselves. This course provides a comprehensive guide covering most of the treatments indicated for the treatment of lung cancer. Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates must be Licensed Pharmacists. Their state licenses must be in good standing. Candidates do not need any other certification or credentials from any other company to take our courses.

Candidates do not need any pre-requisite courses or credentials to take this course. How to Obtain Credit:

  1. Register online to create an account and pay for the course.
  2. Read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures.
  3. Learn the course carefully and pay attention to the speaker’s tutoring. You may pause the slide as needed to fully understand the content.
  4. The final exam consists of 20 questions. You will have 3 attempts to pass the final exam. The passing score is 70%.
  5. Complete the final exam and post-activity evaluation right after the final exam within a maximum of 3 months of enrolling in the activity.

To answer the questions, click on your selected choice for each answer, then proceed to the next question. Once completed, click on the Grade Exam button at the bottom of the page. Your exam will be automatically graded. After you pass the exam and complete the post-test evaluation, your Certificate of completion will be made available immediately. Click on the Certificate of Completion link and print the certificate for your records. To receive credit, you must provide the day, month of the year and NABP eprofile ID number along with other required information in the registration process. All continuing education credits will be uploaded into the CPE monitor within 30 days.

This course aims to enhance the understanding of lung cancer pathophysiology, explore the latest advancements in lung cancer management, and study innovative treatments. Designed for pharmacists, it provides a comprehensive picture of all or most treatments involved in the treatment of lung cancer, determination of choice of treatments based on testing, and detailed discussion about these specialty medications while  equipping them with the knowledge to improve patient care through enhanced access to these treatment options.

  • Describe lung cancer and its symptoms.
  • Discuss types of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC).
  • Describe staging in lung cancers.
  • Understand mutations involved in lung cancers.
  • Detail types of treatments for NSCLC.
  • Describe individual drugs indicated for the treatment of NSCLC under Targeted therapies and Immunotherapies.
  • Review currently approved indications, treatments guidelines, dosage, warnings/precautions and adverse effects.
  • Describe individual drugs indicated for the treatment of SCLC.
  • Formulate steps in patient care management.
  • Discuss common side effects and their management.
  • Discuss reimbursement process.
  • Understand pharmacist’s role.

This course can be taken on any device enabled with basic internet capability. For the best experience, take the course on a PC, laptop or a MAC computer rather than smart phones or tablets. Both Operating systems, Windows 98 or higher and Macintosh 2.2 or higher are good to take our courses. Any standard Internet browser like Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Microsoft Edge, Safari 5.0.6 or higher, Google Chrome, Firefox 3.0.3 or higher, etc. should work for this online course.
